Ukraine has a long and troubled history yet is it is a country of grit, great beauty, and courage. In the 16th century, ‘Ukraine’, which is translated as ‘borderland’ came into existence. During that period, Poland-Lithuania Struggled against Moscow for control Ukraine. Many Ukrainians fled their homes in order to escape the religious persecution and serfdom of Polish tyranny. The fugitives established a military order known as Cossacks which means ‘adventurer’ or ‘outlaw. As we can see today, the Ukrainian people still manifest the resilience and fierce warrior spirit of their ancestors.
As the war rages in Ukraine, it is our hope that we can bring back the spirit of peace by sketching the sunflower-like vitality and beauty of Ukrainian culture, landscape, architecture, and people.Video: 10 Interesting Facts about UkraineVideo: Primer on UkrainePHOTOSBe Generous! Consider Donating.
